Serving as our school nurse for ten years, Covenant Christian School in Aurora, Illinois, Kathy has demonstrated a gentleness and compassion to both young people and adults. Therefore, seeing her current outreach to a new marginalized population isn’t a surprise. Our school families and staff benefited from her expertise and eagerness to provide health and healing. Now she’s expanding her territory to bring a hope and a deep healing of hearts through the Word of God. That’s the Great Commission in living color!

It is my pleasure to provide a recommendation for the Bibles for Prisoners ministry founded by Kathy Lang. I have provided financial support for this ministry and have witnessed Mrs. Lang personally deliver cases of bibles to one of the local penal facilities. She has invested a great amount of time and resources into this calling. One of her goals is to provide bibles in a variety of languages for every facility in the Illinois prison system. With the help of the Holy Spirit and committed fellow supporters, she will be able to fulfill the call to “remember those in prison…" (Hebrews 13:10)

Recommendation for Kathy Lang – Bibles for Prisoners

I highly recommend the ministry of Bibles for Prisoners. Kathy Lang, the founder of the ministry, has a huge heart of compassion for hurting people. Mingling her outreach with prayer, word, and deed, Kathy creatively shares the love of Jesus and God’s Word on a consistent basis with youth and adults behind bars.

Jesus Loves Me, This I Know

I have been Kathy’s Bible study and prayer partner for several years, as well as her neighbor.  Her obedience to God’s word is a model for my life.  She asked God a few years ago for a nursing job, and she heard God answer, "You know that correctional facility you drive past every day?  You go there."  So she did.  In her nursing capacity she had to speak with the residents one at a time, and she began to love them as neglected children.  She brings them to Jesus in prayer, and speaks hope and purpose into their lives with all the authority of Heaven.  She saw their desperate need for God’s written Word, so Kathy asked God for another favor—to get Bibles into the prison.  And God answered, "Sure.  You take them in.  So she did.

Kathy gives a Bible to every single person she can.  And she tells them God loves them and knows them, and has sent His Son to rescue them.  And they believe her.  And they are being saved.  As a sister in Christ; as a nurse; and as a member of The Salvation Army, I deeply understand Kathy’s heart of compassion for those in need.  I am in complete solidarity with her passion to bring complete redemption-physically, mentally, spiritually and socially to the residents of our prisons.  It is not difficult.  It begins with the message:  "Jesus loves me; this I know.  For the Bible tells me so.”
